About the Institute
The Institute of Lipidology, Obesity and Cardiometabolic Diseases is a leading center of expertise in Ukraine in the field of prevention and treatment of disorders related to lipid metabolism, obesity, and cardiometabolic diseases.
Our activity is focused on studying the mechanisms of lipid metabolism disorders, such as hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia, and their association with cardiovascular diseases. We investigate the relationship between blood lipid levels and the risk of developing atherosclerosis, strokes, and myocardial infarction.
Special attention is paid to genetic disorders, such as familial hypercholesterolemia, and to the development of effective methods for their treatment.
The Institute is also engaged in the development and implementation of modern diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to obesity, including dietary, pharmacological, and surgical interventions.
- We study the relationship between obesity and cardiometabolic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, arterial hypertension, and metabolic syndrome.
- We develop obesity prevention programs for different population groups, including children, adolescents, and adults.
- We conduct research on the complex relationships between metabolic disorders (insulin resistance, diabetes, hypertension) and cardiovascular diseases, and we create programs for the prevention and treatment of cardiometabolic disorders, such as coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, and heart failure.
- We design and implement screening programs for the early detection of individuals at high risk of developing atherosclerosis, dyslipidemia, and metabolic disorders.
- We maintain registries of patients with genetically determined metabolic disorders for further research and clinical monitoring.
- We investigate the efficacy of new drugs for the treatment of dyslipidemia, obesity, and cardiometabolic disorders.
- We develop innovative therapeutic strategies to correct lipid profiles and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events.
- We study the impact of nutrition, physical activity, and lifestyle on lipid levels, obesity, and cardiometabolic risk.
- We develop healthy lifestyle recommendations aimed at reducing the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
- We provide training for specialists in the field of cardiometabolic medicine and continuous education for medical professionals.
- We conduct public awareness campaigns to increase understanding of cardiovascular and metabolic health risks.
The Institute can also participate in international research and collaborations with other institutions to develop effective strategies for the prevention and treatment of these diseases.
Everyone interested — from nurses and students to academicians — can join the Association. The activities of our community are based on close cooperation between cardiologists and endocrinologists, scientists and clinicians, as well as other specialists involved in cardiometabolic practice.
The mission of LOCZ is to promote research, increase professional interest in the field of lipidology, and improve clinical care for people with obesity and cardiometabolic diseases.
The Institute of Lipidology, Obesity and Cardiometabolic Diseases is a non-profit medical society. We are an independent public, non-governmental organization whose members and leaders are medical professionals. We dedicate our time and efforts to spreading knowledge within the medical community while continuing our daily scientific, research, and clinical work.
The Institute of Lipidology is a source of high-quality, evidence-based science built upon years of experience, analysis, and innovation — serving as a driving force for the development of modern endocrinology. It is a non-profit scientific community for professionals treating patients with cardiometabolic diseases.
We invite all medical professionals (including students) and scientists to join the Institute. Membership provides access to new ideas, knowledge, and professional networking opportunities — as well as the chance to share expertise during our meetings and events.
The educational activities of the Institute include congresses, conferences, symposia, master classes, and schools — both in-person and online — including webinars, as well as joint programs with international societies and workplace internships.
